Cosmic Quest in a Magazine!?

It has just been brought to my attention by commenter named Pip that Cosmic Quest has been featured in an Australian Pokémon magazine…well…sort of… Apparently this unofficial, but nonetheless published, Pokémon magazine used my History of the Pokémon World page as a source for their article on the topic (a better description would be they plagiarized it, as I was not sourced and I granted no permission). This is made obvious by the fact that they make references to the Cosmic Architect, Terratlas, and Seluna. See for yourself here. Just to be clear, I do not approve of this blatant plagiarism by any means, but at the same time, this is just so hilarious that I can’t help but share it.

The Sun Also Rises

With Sun and Moon Versions on the horizon, I thought that now would be an ideal time reveal a Legendary Sun Pokémon of my own.

Heliosol
Heliosol
Classification: The Solar Pokémon
Type: Fire/Light
Description: This Pokémon was revered by the ancients of Tenno as a solar deity. It was known in times past to occasionally descend to Earth from its home in space to temporarily inhabit temples and shrines built in its honor.
Does Not Evolve

Trivia: Heliosol’s name is a combination of the name Helios, the Greek Titan of the Sun, and sol, the Latin word and scientific name for the Sun. In Tenno’s history and legends this Pokémon is highly associated with the Sun. In Luna and Terra Versions this Pokémon can be found in the ruins of Solar Peak, the  highest summit of Mt. Corona, but only after the player has defeated Terratlas/Seluna and entered the Hall of Fame. There seems to be more to this mysterious Pokémon than meets the eye.

Signature Move:
Coronal Storm
Gathering solar energy, the user unleashes an intense storm of charged particles. The attack is powered up if used when the sunlight is harsh.
Type: Fire/Light
Category: Special
Power: 100
Accuracy: 90
PP: 5

Signature Ability:
Solar Maximum
When the Pokémon attacks or is sent into a battle, it turns the sunlight harsh.

Back in the Day…

As of today, we’re exactly a week off from the 20th Anniversary. It’s time for the next wave of special content. Remember how when Pokémon first came out, the graphics were much different? There were greater limitations on colors and sprite size, and the sprites themselves just looked goofy at times. Have you ever wondered what Pokémon from the Tenno Region might have looked like if they were made back then? No, you haven’t? Well, you get to see anyways.

Train on!

The 20th Anniversary is Coming!

It may be over a month away, but it’s never too early to begin celebrating one of the biggest years in Pokémon’s history. February 27, 2016 is Pokémon’s 20th anniversary! You may have already noticed the new banner above and the countdown timer on the right. These are just two of the ways I plan on celebrating. I have also updated the Bonus Content section with a special 20th Anniversary desktop background I created. Here’s a look:

20th Anniversary Background

Don’t think it ends there though, I have a lot planned for the coming month, including a very special way to celebrate on the actual day of the anniversary.

Never stop catching ’em all!

Cosmic Chronicles Review/Cosmic Quest: The Movie

In case you haven’t read the Cosmic Chronicles yet (which you should if you haven’t), here’s something you missed:

That’s right, the Cosmic Quest Movie is going to feature a brand new, never before seen Pokémon. Who’s that Pokémon!? You’ll just have wait to find out more. Stay tuned.

On to business. You might have realized that the Cosmic Chronicles is similar to the currently running Mega Evolution Specials. If you thought that, you would be right. An interesting note though, it wasn’t actually the Mega Evolution Special that inspired me to write this. My inspiration came from watching Pokémon Chronicles, specifically the Legend of Thunder. It was a three-part episode that featured Jimmy (based off of the protagonist of Gold and Silver) in a fight to save Raiku. I thought it was a great idea to have a series of special episodes featuring the playable character. I had already known that I wanted to do some sort of exclusive special episode for this website, and decided that that idea would be perfect. I decided it would be better though to model it after the Mega Evolution Special, as I find those episodes to be highly intriguing. The half of the inspiration for the series actually comes from the Delta Episode in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. I realized that the Delta Episode (also combined with the “Looker Episode” in X and Y) was the start of a new era in Pokémon. Post-game episodes would probably become a permanent feature in future games. I decided to adapt and created a post-game episode for Luna and Terra. When trying to come up with a plot for the Cosmic Chronicles, I realized that this post-game episode would be perfect, so I merged the two ideas and the Cosmic Chronicles was formed. Of course, I had to take some liberties in the story, as Brandon was supposed to be in the place of Ash throughout the normal story, and this story wasn’t supposed to take place until after Team Planetary was defeated, but I made it work. I expect to write 3-4 more episodes depending on how everything goes for the Cosmic Chronicles. They will be spread out across the remaining run of Cosmic Quest. I hope you’re looking forward to them.

If you haven’t seen them yet, sprites of the Team Interplanetary Grunts and Commander Messier have been added to the Team Planetary page.

Also, my apologies again. I have been really busy the past several days with starting college and unable to write. Hopefully a new episode will be coming soon.
